Extreme Sports:
The World's Most Dangerous Sports!
Extreme Sports are all about adrenaline, exhilaration and fear. The fear of injury or even death while participating in these dangerous sports is exactly the reason for the rush of excitement you get when you do them. You never feel as alive as you do when you feel you're close to death! Although the terms 'extreme sports' and 'adventure sports' are relatively new, it's probably true that people have been participating in dangerous sports and activities for hundreds of years, not only for the pure rush of adrenaline they give you while doing them, but maybe to show strength and courage aswell. The modern day idea of extreme sports probably started around the 80's and 90's, when they began being broadcast my mainstream TV sports channels to people all over the world, bringing cult outdoor sports into people's front rooms!
Break free from Health and Safety!
Now, as the world is overcome by new health and safety regulations each day, more and more people feel as if they are being unwantedly wrapped in cotton wool. This has seen a rise in popularity of extreme action sports such as bungee jumping and snowboarding, as people continue to try to counter-balance these sometimes over-the-top measures.A great example of a growing extreme sport is Fell Running, which is an excellent cardiovascular exercise, improving fitness, stamina and endurance levels while getting you into the great outdoors and the fresh air which is great for your mind and your mood. Even the slightly less dangerous outdoor sports like mountain biking can be great fun and have obvious health and fitness benefits. There are now so many different action sports to try, from base-jumping to kayaking and everything in between. It's really worth trying a few for yourself to find out what you enjoy.
Just do it!
Participating in these types of adventure sports, sometimes you forget that you're working out and keeping yourself fit and lean. They're so much fun and the adrenaline is pumping so hard that you don't feel the pain and tiredness normally associated with working out. This can be a huge positive for people who just can't face the boredom of the weights and gym machines, as it gives them a way to escape that without sacrificing their health and fitness. The only possible negative of extreme sports is the danger, although this is considered the main positive by many! When you look at the benefits, like the health and fitness aspects and the positive mental boost these activities give you, it shows that any fears or apprehensiveness that could put people off should not be a barrier. You can compare it to being like the roller-coaster you're too scared to ride, because when you eventually pluck up the courage to do it you want another go! The adrenaline rush is addictive! --------------------------------- We will soon be adding information on each and every Extreme, Adventure and Dangerous Sport.
